All it takes is pretzels, hugs, and m&ms. Heat the pretzels and hugs for 5 minutes in the oven, and press the m&ms on top of the warm chocolates.
You will need to wait for the chocolate to set back up before you package them, so I put mine in the freezer until they are firm, but not before I grab one to snack on all melty from the oven. 😉
I think these would work okay with the candy cane kisses as well, but don’t try the carmel filled kisses. We tried, and it was no bueno! They don’t melt the same. Anyway, you will want to make these to snack on for sure, so head to the store and grab what you need!

Hi! I’ve been making these a long time as several other have also mentioned, but couldn’t remember the temp to use for the hugs, so thank you! And thanks to the comments I won’t do my usual kisses batch and just stick with the hugs. 👍🏼❤️
As to the pretzels: I use the “windowpane “ shaped pretzels and they’re so great because then you have a nice stable base for the hugs! The nice thing too is you get pretzel in every sweet bite lol. When I’m doing gluten free batches I use whatever shapes I was able to find in he store 😂
For people asking how long these keep without being stale—I’d say no worries there, because if your house is anything like mine there will be zero leftover with every. single. batch…😄🤣
Those square “windowpane” pretzels sure are nice for these. Thanks for your comment Linda!
I made these last night before I read the comments of course. Are used the Hershey kisses that look like candy canes. Everything seem fine, but today they have cooled off and set up but they are not sticking to the pretzels. Any suggestions on how to save about 50 of these? I’m not sure putting them back in the oven is going to solve the problem.
Since I rarely can find round pretzel rings where I live in theHouston area, I often use the pretzels that look like tic tac toe boards. They work very well also.
That’s great! Thanks for sharing!
How long do these last can you make them ahead of time ?
You can make them ahead of time for sure. I’d say they last at least 7-10 days. Maybe even longer. They have a pretty long shelf life. Keep them stored in an airtight container.
So quick, easy and perfect for the holidays! It covers the sweet/salty cravings plus they look so cute. Now I just did them for Christmas but I was thinking you could do them for any holiday with the appropriate holiday M&Ms (Easter, Fourth of July, St Patty’s, etc).
Yes, they are super versatile! Glad you enjoyed this recipe Barb!
Oh, lol, we have a generator but it won’t run the oven, but our power came back on😁
I don’t know about doing them in the microwave but….if you have no power…how would the microwave work?
Since we have no power until at least Sunday I was wondering if I could do them in the microwave?.
Yup….I was using the kisses.
OK…After some Googling I found out that Hershey’s did indeed change their formula! They took out the cocoa butter and replaced it with vegetable oil! ICK! No wonder the chocolate started sweating and browning rather than melting.
Sad cause this was such an easy and yummy recipe to make for people. Now I’m going to have to find something else to make. Good thing these are not expensive so I don’t feel bad throwing them out.
You used the Hershey’s hugs or kisses? A lot of people have been having issues with the chocolate kisses, but the hugs are still working fine for me. Rolos work well too. You can substitute chocolate melting wafers. Bummer that they changed their formula!
